J
Quiller Couch on the piskeys of Polperro and district..."when not
singing and dancing, their chief nightly amusement is riding the colts,
or plaiting their manes or tangling them with seed-vessels of the
burdock. Of a particular field in this neighbourhood it is reported that
the farmer never puts his horses in it, but he finds them in the
morning in a great state of terror, panting and covered with foam."
